I Love to Watch You Play: A Conversation with Asia Mape
We’re thrilled to welcome Asia Mape, a 4-time Emmy Award-winning journalist, sports television producer, and founder of I Love to Watch You Play.
With an impressive career spanning Fox Sports, ESPN, TNT, NFL Network, and NBC Sports, Asia has covered the world’s biggest sporting events—five Olympics, multiple NBA Playoffs, and two Super Bowls. She’s interviewed hundreds of athletes, bringing their stories of resilience, talent, and determination to life.
Asia’s journey in sports began as a young girl growing up in Detroit, trying to keep up with her older brothers. Her passion led her to win a Virginia High School State Basketball Championship and earn a basketball scholarship, ultimately transferring to the University of Michigan to study Communications.
As a mother of three daughters heavily involved in youth sports, Asia has spent the last 12 years immersed in the world of club teams, tournaments, and the evolving landscape of youth athletics. This experience sparked the creation of “I Love to Watch You Play,” a platform dedicated to helping parents navigate the challenges and joys of raising young athletes.
On today’s episode, we dive into:
