Filling the Gaps in Financial Education
Ryan Schachtner
Best Selling Author, Foundation for Financial Excellence
CEO, A Must Win
President & Founder, Carolina Asset Management
This week we get the pleasure of speaking with our Pillar 5 Leader, Ryan Schachtner. When a catastrophic injury ended his baseball career, Ryan went on to become a best-selling author, NIL finance thought leader, and the owner of Carolina Asset Management.
Ryan shares his dreams of becoming a professional baseball player, which came to an end after a major shulder injury in college. Knowing he needed to quickly pivot in order to continue building a future for himself, he sought out an internship, bringing on a new set of obstacles. Up for the challenge, Ryan applied skills he learned on the baseball field to his professional life - and it paid off.
Athletics returned to his focus when a collegiate basketball player came to him for an internship. While getting to know this young student-athlete, Ryan discovered that the financial education provided in school was almost entirely lacking. Wanting to change this, Ryan began building an educational program specifically geared towards student-athletes, which is his best selling book, Foundation for Financial Excellence. He has also joined The Players NIL's educational team and is the creator of Pillar 5: Money Mindset.
